Paragraph 37. The limitation of subscriptions was the only important point at issue. compromise agreement has been reached by which a school is allowed to charge subscriptions at its discretion, but if Government's financial officers think these subscriptions are too high then the grant may be reduced.

In addition, agreed changes have been made in paragraph 3 to meet the objections of the Roman Catholic Grant Schools; in paragraphs 13
16 to allow for the introduction of a new grade of Primary School Teachers (new paragraph 13); in paragraph 33 to include conditions governing the use of the Block Grant; and in paragraph 34 to allow a more satisfactory way of collecting fees.
The remaining changes are in wording only and do not alter the substance of the Code.
This version of the Code is acceptable to all the members of the Grant Schools' Council and to Government, and I should therefore be grateful if you would give the early approval referred to in paragraph 3 of your telegram under reference.
